Centre for Alternative Technology
The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an eco-centre in Powys, mid-Wales, dedicated to demonstrating and teaching sustainable development. CAT, despite its name, no longer concentrates its efforts exclusively on alternative technology, but provides information on all aspects of sustainable living. It is open to visitors, offers postgraduate degrees as well as shorter residential and one-day courses; and publishes information on renewable energy, sustainable architecture, organic farming, gardening, and sustainable living. As well as being very informative, a trip to CAT is a great opportunity to discover something new and enjoy quality family time together - a really great day out!
The kids loved it!We visited CAT during the summer holidays. The kids, and adults, had a fantastic time. We were lucky that it was a quietish day so could get to all the hands-on stuff and holiday activities. Volunteers were friendly and my youngest got to do arts and crafts, my oldest to build a solar-powered model. We all left feeling inspired and positive about recycling, composting, alternative energy generation etc. The kids both used their pocket money to buy kits in the shop to make mini electric circuits with solar cells and fans etc! Would love to visit again.
Fancy something different...
